Station IX Knives - NUMBER SEVEN - "TRAIL ULTRA"
Designed primarily to be carried as a neck knife, the weight and volume of the “Trail Ultra” allows for endless on body carry options and kit building.
The design of our No.7 was born in 2006 in France, when T.Lopes (co-founder of Station IX) started manufacturing the “Carcajou” and subsequently the “Carcaneck”.
The Trail Ultra is a utilitarian fixed blade knife with minimalist proportions, in VG-10 steel, aligning with one of our principles here at Station IX we call “W.V.E.P.P.”: Weight, Volume, Efficiency, Practicality, Price.
The design of the handle is pear shaped, giving the end user an exceptional grip considering the size of the knife. This design also creates an optimal guard, protecting the hand while working.
The Trail Ultra does not have any handle material to save on weight and volume, but it is possible to customize it by adding a paracord wrap for example. We have made a single large hole at the end of the handle to keep the structural integrity of the knife while allowing to save on weight.
The edges have been rounded for added comfort, except for the swedge in order to preserve the solidity of the point.
The Kydex sheath was kept rectangular: 3” x 1.75” - The width of a “tactical” belt, making it the perfect building foundation for a small survival kit held by an affordable piece of bicycle inner tube. The possibility to “kit” the Trail Ultra makes it the ideal survival companion for urban or outdoors environments.
The Trail Ultra is an extremely capable small ultra light fixed blade knife.
